I was born and raised in Sudbury in 1975. I had a traditional family upbringing, where family and friends were an intricate part of everyday life.
I went to elementary school one street over from where I currently live today. The pride and passion of a bedroom community, designed neighbourhoods from the 60’s was a big reason I purchased my parents’ and childhood home. I attended high school at St. Charles College and Confederation Secondary and went on to study Journalism and Photography at Cambrian College.
With a growing family I pursued a career in the mining industry and settled down with Falconbridge Limited. Now called Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations, A Glencore Company.
It has been my home for the last 14 years. The name may have changed but the work has always brought me home at night to my family. The major reason I settled into a company job here locally. The mining industry has taught me many things, one of them has taught me to be a team player, and taught me to see the bigger picture. I have learned, one must be able to communicate and work with others in a positive manner or nothing will get accomplished.
I now have over 22 years in the mining industry here in Sudbury and across this great country. I have an outstanding safety record, and promote safety to the fullest on a daily basis, at home and at work. I am politically active and have been so since before I was able to vote. I have a great passion for my home, community and the Greater City of Sudbury.
I am cancer fighter, being diagnosed with Stage IV Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in September 2015. Its not an easy fight but one I am determined to win. I am a huge sports fan, the Green Bay Packers, Formula 1 Racing and the Toronto Maple Leafs are in my blood. I also have a passion for music and art and my beloved Newfoundland Dog “Friend” who I keep saying will live forever.
